Monke Reset
Privacy Policy
Monke Reset helps you quit porn. What you tell it about that is the most private thing you could tell an app, so the app is built so that we never receive it. Your answers, your streak, your reasons, and your pledge are written to your phone's storage and stay there. We have no server, no account system, and no copy of any of it.
Who we are
Monke Reset is made and operated by Ajay E R, an independent app developer, who is the data controller for the limited information described below. You can reach us at any time at hello@makebolt.com. A postal address is available on request.
What never leaves your phone
The following is stored only in the app's private storage on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else:
- The name you give the app.
- Every answer in the onboarding questionnaire: your age, how often you watch porn, how long it has been part of your life, what you want back, your longest streak, and everything else you tap.
- Your reason for quitting, and the reasons list you build later.
- Your pledge and the signature you draw. The signature is never saved.
- Your streak, start date, check-ins, relapses, 90-day plan, and achievements.
- Your reminder times, language, and app preferences.
There is no account and no sign-in. We never ask for your email address. Because we hold no copy, we cannot read, recover, or hand over any of it. If you delete the app or use Reset progress in Settings, it is gone.
We do not record your screen
The app contains no session recording, screen capture, or screenshot telemetry of any kind. No one watches your session.
Anonymous usage data
To learn which parts of the app confuse people and where they give up, the app sends a small number of anonymous events to PostHog, our analytics provider. This is the only product analytics in the app, and you can switch it off at any time in Settings › Share usage data.
What is sent:
- A random identifier generated on your device. It is not derived from your name, your email, or any device serial number, and it is not linked to your identity.
- Which onboarding step you reached (the step's name only, never the answer you gave on it).
- That the app was opened, once per cold start. This is the only recurring event, and it is how we tell whether people keep using Monke Reset after the first week. It carries nothing but the fact that it happened.
- Whether you saw the paywall, whether a purchase or restore was started, and whether it completed. A completed purchase includes the amount and currency you paid.
- Basic technical context attached automatically by the analytics library: device model and manufacturer, operating system and version, language, time zone, app version, and whether the app is running in a simulator.
And what is deliberately not sent:
- No screen tracking. We do not log which screens you open, which tools you use, or how long you spend in the app.
- No streak or relapse data. Your progress, check-ins, and any relapse you record stay on your phone. We never see them.
- No location. Your IP address necessarily reaches PostHog's servers when an event is sent, as it does for any request over the internet, but we switch off IP-based location lookup, so it is never turned into a country, region, or city.
We retain these events for up to 24 months. Turning the setting off stops collection immediately and for every future launch.
Crash reports
When the app crashes or hits an error, a report is sent to Sentry so it can be fixed. A report contains the error, a stack trace, the screens you moved through beforehand, your device model, operating system, and app version. Sentry is explicitly configured not to attach your IP address or any user identifier.
Subscriptions
Monke Reset Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store or Google Play. Purchases are handled by RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user identifier, your subscription status, the store receipt, your store country, and your platform. This is what lets the app know you are a subscriber and lets you restore a purchase on a new device.
Apple and Google process the payment itself. We never see or receive your card number, billing address, or any payment credential.
App updates and installs
The app is built with Expo. It checks Expo's servers for over-the-air updates, which transmits your platform, the app's runtime version, and your IP address. Expo also collects basic install and usage counts for the developer.
Podcasts and YouTube
The library plays podcast episodes through an embedded YouTube player. If you play one, Google receives your IP address and device information and may set cookies, exactly as if you had opened YouTube yourself. That activity is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not this one. If you never open a podcast, nothing is sent to Google.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. There is no push server and no push token. We do not know whether a notification was sent, shown, or opened, and no notification content leaves your phone. You can turn reminders off in the app or in your device settings.
No tracking and no advertising
The app shows no ads. It does not track you across other apps or websites, does not request the App Tracking Transparency permission, does not read the advertising identifier, and does not share data with data brokers or advertising networks. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we never will.
Where your data goes
PostHog, Sentry, RevenueCat, and Expo process the limited data above on our behalf, on servers located in the United States. Where the law requires a transfer mechanism for personal data leaving your country, we rely on the standard contractual clauses those providers offer. Each provider is bound to protect the data to the standard described in this policy.
Legal basis
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on your consent for anonymous usage data, which you may withdraw at any time in Settings; on the performance of our contract with you for subscription data; and on our legitimate interest in a working, non-crashing app for crash reports.
Your rights
You can exercise the following without contacting us at all:
- Erase everything you have entered: delete the app, or use Settings › Reset progress.
- Stop analytics: turn off Settings › Share usage data.
- Stop reminders: turn them off in the app or in your device's notification settings.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or port personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Write to hello@makebolt.com and we will respond within 30 days.
One honest limitation: because analytics events carry only a random identifier and are never linked to your name or email, we usually cannot tell which records belong to you. If you want them deleted, turning the setting off stops all future collection, and we will delete what we can if you can help us locate it.
How long we keep things
- Everything on your phone: until you delete it. We hold no copy.
- Anonymous usage events: up to 24 months.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days.
- Subscription records: for the life of the subscription, and afterwards only as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Security
Your entries live in the app's private storage, which your operating system isolates from other apps and encrypts at rest. Anyone who can unlock your phone can open the app, so keep a passcode on it. The strongest protection here is structural rather than technical: there is no server to breach, because we never collect the sensitive data in the first place.
Children
Monke Reset is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will post the new version here with a new effective date, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again. This page is always the current version.
